In the Beginning . . .

Welcome! As we are all new here, why don’t we start by introducing ourselves. I’m Ashley. Brand-spanking new mom, wife, daughter of God, speech-language pathologist, and real estate investor. I’m starting this site for a few reasons, the foremost of which being that I miss my practice.

I’ve always known that I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. Growing up in a home where my mom stayed at home with us, I fully appreciated always having her there – for band-aid and popsicle care when I scraped my knee, bus duty when I wanted to go to the library or Brownies, and to help when I had questions about homework . . . or life . . . or anything. Being a stay-at-home mom to my beautiful 3-month-old daughter Emma, I have been truly fulfilled these past 3 months.

In the last week or so, however, I’ve been itching, yearning to provide speech therapy. You see, I was fresh out of grad school for speech-language pathology just over 2 years ago. I then worked for a skilled nursing facility and a charter school before I had Emma. Emma is everything I ever dreamed my child to be and much much more. But I miss it, my speech therapy. Helping kids to gain and hone those essential communication skills, those skills that open up a whole new world of goofing around with their friends, becoming excited about what they learn in school, saying “I love you” to their mom for the first time. I love it. And I miss it.

So here I am, and here you are. I am happy you could join us.

I am here to offer my experience, my insight, my support. I may not be providing hands-on therapy for the time-being, but I am here to share what I know, what I am still learning, and my resources. Should anyone stumble upon what I’ve created here, all I can hope is that somewhere in the midst of my babbling, you’ll find something useful to you or something to pass on to someone you know.

Welcome.
